STATEMENT OF PURPOSEManagement Information Systems is a rapidly emerging field. What started years ago with manual systems like Customer Databases and Catalogues has evolved into modern concepts such as Predictive Data Mining. Rapid developments in the field of Information Management have left me fascinated with Master’s in Business Information Systems. Having interned in Centre for Railways Information Systems (CRIS, Indian Railways) and having gained in-depth knowledge of its importance and business applications, I feel that I am ready to move forward in the field of business information systems. To keep up with the advancements in this field and prepare myself to meet the demanding standards of this industry, I wish to pursue a graduate program in Business Information Systems from Monash University.I reside in a family of four members. My father is a pharmacist and owns a business of medicine. I inherited my business-related skills from him only. He taught me to have an eye for detail which helped me in enhancing my analytical skills. My mother is a government servant in electricity department(DHBVN). She has a degree in electronics so I acquired my engineering skills from her. Hence, I can handle both business and engineering. I also have a younger brother who is presently in high school.Talking about my academics, I was an excellent student, which could be analyzed from my score of 88.2% in high school. I earned my Bachelor’s degree i.e. bachelor’s of Information Technology from The Northrop University in the year 2017 (ITM University). During my undergraduate studies I studied subjects like introduction to java, advance java, data warehouse and data mining, database management systems, big data, software engineering, software project management, business intelligence etc. At all point my bachelors in Information Technology was a great assist, not only in the academic front but beyond that as well. The analytical thought process was cultivated over four years during my graduation.I have done a couple of internships from CRIS during my graduation. My first project in CRIS was on Employee Self Service(ESS) portal using java servlets, HTML and Oracle and second project under CRIS was Railways passenger force Security Management System(RSMS) using bootstrap wherein I had to design a dashboard for the entire organization. The work on dashboard proved to be useful in terms of Business Analytics. CRIS proved to be an excellent platform as it helped me in gathering my technical and analytical skills. I did a six months internship at Newgen Software Technologies Limited. There I worked on live projects so that I could know about the in and out of the corporate world. This would help me in dealing with the business analytics at future stages of my post-graduation.Apart from my academics I have participated in many cultural events as I have good organizing ability. I played an important role in organizing annual cultural festival “MOMENTUM” at my college. I also took part in many other events like Cerebration which was the technical festival of our college. Except from this I was the core team member of “ABHIVYAKT” the debating society.Studying in multidimensional geographies like India and Australia will give a kick to my career as I would be having the knowledge of both the dimensions. Australia is one of the developing countries and provides a lot of opportunities for learning new technologies through its renowned universities. It has been a chief driver in innovation , business analytics and computing. Schools and employers all over the world recognize degrees from Australian schools. Studying overseas will not only give a wide range of professional skills but also an international perspective. The climate is perfectly adaptable and its welcoming culture makes the country a home to millions of international students. My research included many countries like Canada , Germany , UK , USA etc for my post graduation but there were a few things about them which could not attract my interest. Talking about Canada ,the climatic conditions are so harsh that it is difficult for a person to adjust there . Masters in UK is a one year program and one year masters is not acceptable in the public sector here in India. In European countries like Germany language is the biggest barrier. One has to learn to communicate in German language to sustain there. Considering USA , living expenses and tuition costs are lower in Australia than they are in USA and UK. Hence Australia is the perfect place for the masters .I have chosen Monash university to do my masters as it is well reputed university and reside in group of top eight (go8) universities of Australia. It is known for providing in depth understanding in the field of Business Information Systems. To be a part of Monash will be dream come true. The incomparable facilities and the renowned faculty at your university makes its masters program suitable for my professional goals. Your university provides me with the dynamic atmosphere which will make a thinker and a learner out of me. The program offers a comprehensive platform which would teach me the winning techniques and help me develop a hostile perspective for Business . Masters of Business Information System at Monash is a 96-credit course which is structured in three parts: Foundations for advanced business information systems, Core master’s study and Advanced practice. The subjects which are included will be Introduction to business information systems, Systems analysis and design, Programming in Java, databases, information organization, Managing business records, introduction to data science, IT for financial decisions, Business process modelling, global project management and many more. This course will prepare me for the roles such as business analyst, systems analyst, project leader, IT manager etc.”Learning is more effective when it is an active rather than passive process.” In our country India , education systems works differently. The focus is usually on the theoretical aspect rather than practical knowledge. I think at master’s level you require more of a practical knowledge than a theoretical one. My education and experience has so far introduced me to the various possibilities , tools and methods but to be at the top I must master the same and gain a wide variety of knowledge both theoretically and practically.Studying in the research driven environment and gaining the indepth knowledge of the field will help me in understanding the broader aspect of the Business Information Technology. The courses in Australia are designed to meet the requirements of employers and matches market trends. Not only this , Australia is much more advanced in terms of new technologies than India. Therefore I choose Australia over my native country India for my post-graduation studies. Indian method of assessment is mostly examination based while Australian system asses students through seminars, assignments, essays etc In my country India we have courses like M.Tech which are more theory driven courses whereas in Australia courses like MS are provided in different fields and they focus more on the research and the practical aspect of knowledge. After I graduate from your program, I will be uniquely prepared to face the challenges of international business analytics world. My short-term goal is to get a job in an IT organization to seek practical supplement to my education and contribute to the growth of the organization. The top most organization in the world who offer job opportunities in the field of business information systems are “Deloitte, KPMG, Frost and Sullivan, Mckinsey & company,Gartner, Red-monk, Oracle, Manthan etc. “.I will work as research analyst, business analyst, solve business problems, design IT solutions etc.I would be expecting a salary of Rs. 25-30 lakhs per annum, which is equivalent to AUS$50,000-60,000. I am sure of the fact that master’s in Business Information Systems coupled with my skill set will help me in achieving my career goals. I plan to use my computing and Business background to assist in the development of companies in my home country. Studying Business concepts, global project management trend , IT financial concepts and standard specification of a developed nation would certainly give me a big picture of the Business economics of developed country. I can use these concepts in my home country India. India is a developing country and it is performing good in the IT sector. Its IT sector’s gross value increased from 2011-12 to 2017-18.I am well aware of the terms and conditions of the student visa (subclass 500) .I cannot work more than 40 hours per fortnight when my course is in session.I must remain enrolled in a registered course, at the same level, or a higher level than the registered course for which I was granted a visa.I must maintain attendance above 80 % in my course and course progress for each study period as required by my education provider.I must maintain health insurance under Overseas Student Health Cover for my complete stay in Australia.I must tell my education provider:-The address where I live in Australia within seven days of arriving in Australia, if I change the address where I live within seven days of the change, if I change education provider within seven days of receiving the electronic confirmation of enrolment certificate or evidence of enrolment.
